VP60 2024 REUNION UPDATE

Hello fellow Cobras:

Well it’s almost time for the reunion and we are in the final planning stages of making it happen! It’s been a bit challenging as Great Lakes Naval Station isn’t quite the same or as accommodating as it was for the previous 2 reunions. For those of you who were lucky enough to get a room reservation at the Navy Lodge good thing you reserved early. We were only able to lock in 35 rooms and those have been taken already. You can still call and see if it’s possible to get a room though. For reservations call 847-689-1485, press “4” for the front desk, tell them you are with the VP-60 reunion and see if they can squeeze you in. The Gateway Inn & Suites will be available to make reservations starting on June 25th. Since this is considered leisure travel they will only allow reservations to be made 30 days in advance. We also were not able to block any rooms. Reservations can be made by calling Gateway Reservations at 877-NAVY-BED (877-628-9233). You must have a retired military ID or a 100% Disabled VA ID. Room rate for this is $137/per night.

Due to the wonderful response in turnout, we have had to make different arrangements for the Saturday evening social/dinner. It will now be held at the American Legion Post 771 located at 749 Milwaukee Ave, Gurnee, IL which is only about 15 minutes north of the Navy Lodge. We have made arrangements for catering through the American Legion and the menu choices are as follows:

NY Strip Steak, Broasted Chicken, Salmon Fillet or Jumbo Shrimp Alfredo. Each meal comes with side dishes of green beans, herb roasted potatoes, and a side salad. Peach cobbler will be served for dessert.

There will also be a cash bar available for the cocktail hour (1800-1900).

The Thursday evening Meet and Greet venue has not been finalized at this time but we hope to have all the arrangements made within the next couple of weeks. We were planning to have it at the golf course on base but as of yet they are not open and we are having difficulty contacting their management. It may also be held at the American Legion in Gurnee as well. Details will be in the next newsletter.

Capt. William “LePerl” Perlmutter is co-hosting the dinner with FORCM Chris “I really wanted to be an FE” Glennon, and they would like to hear from folks that would like to share some anecdotes regarding fellow squadron mates. So if you have some humorous or maybe even a little embarrassing memories that you would like to share (I’m sure nobody would be embarrassed) please email them to either LePerl (leperl@embarqmail.com) or Chris (ccgforce10@gmail.com).

Within the next 7-10 days you will be receiving another newsletter with costs and schedule of events. A registration form will be attached as a PDF, and there will also be a link to the registration form on the newsletter for those who cannot download and open attachments,. Also on the reservation form will be information on where to send your check. All funds will need to be received by June 25th. There will also be links to the newsletter and registration form on the VP-60 Facebook page.
